The R984 C is Liebherr’s largest excavator aside from the 990 and 9000 mining series. The 265,000 lb (120 tonnes) machine is powered by an 685 hp engine.

The model is from a second series that was brought out by Conrad a while after the original model. It differs from the first one in a bucket quick coupler, a slightly larger bucket and a ripper. With real machines, rippers like that are used for loosening hard soil like limestone before digging. This obviates the need for expensive blasting.
