| Description | When the Demag H485S was introduced in 1986, it was the world's largest hydraulic excavator with an operating weight of 475 t (1,050,000 lb). With later-built machines, the weight increased up to 640 t (1,400,000 lb). At the same time, the volume of the shovel rose from 23 m³ (30 cuyd) to 33 m³ (43 cuyd). Initially, the H485S was powered by single MTU diesel engine with 2135 hp, later machines were powered by two engines. |
