Description | At first, Caterpillar installed just one engine on the traction unit of their scrapers. As the scraper grew bigger, one engine didn’t suffice anymore and a secongd engine was installed on the rear end of the scrapers. When even this machines ran out of power, the scrapers were equipped with a clamp a the front and a hook at the rear (“Push-Pull-Scraper”). With this, two scrapers could assist one another by pushing or pulling. (also see additional pictures) The 627 model arrived on the market in 1968 and featured two 225 hp engines, which made it the smallest two-engine-scraper. Meanwhile, the successor 627G is available. Unfortunately, NZG used a new-sytyle CAT logo anachronistically. |
