The R 912 was one of Liebherr’s medium sized excavators, weighing 22–25 metric tons (48,000-55,000 lb). When introducing its electronic motor and hydraulic management “Litronic” at the beginning of the 1990s, Liebherr also changed the design of their excavators. While the angular appearance of the motor and the counterweight, the driver’s cab received a revision and was now completely varnished white (instead of yellow and white). Furthermore, gooseneck booms became a standard feature.
