| Description | The Caterpillar D8K was built from 1974 to 1982 and, back in the, was Caterpillar's second-biggest dozer after the D9H. It is powered by Caterpillar D342 diesel engine with a displacement of 20.4 litres (1,246 cu. in.) and a power output of 300 hp (224 kW). This model is equipped with a “U” dozer blade and a multishank ripper, which would have brought the original machine's weight to approximately 37 metric tons (83,000 lb). The D8K also was the last model of the D8 series with conventional undercarriage, the successor D8L already had elevated drive sprockets (“Delta” undercarriage). |
