| Description | When Liebherr introduced the R991 in 1977, it replaced the R981 as the largest excavator in the product lineup. It weighed about 160 metric tons (350,000 lb) and was powered by two Cummins diesel engine with an power output of 360%thinsp;hp each. Until cease of production in 1985, the real machine was built 63 times. |
