Description | After the BG48, the BG40 is currently Bauer's second largest rotary drill rig. With an operating weight of roughly 140 tonnes (308,600 lb) it has a total height of about 27 m (89 ft). The rotary drive offers a maximum torque of 390 kNm. The model resembles a configuration with a crowd winch and a Continous Flight Auger (CFA). With that tool, the hole is drilled in one single step. After the desired depth is reached, the drill is pulled out of the borehole, while concrete is being pumped into the hole through the hollow stem of the auger simultaneously, filling up the borehole. If necessary, a reinforcement cage is put into the wet concrete afterwards. |
